In the 2020 Majors Draft your son was selected to play for the Orioles.
Hi, I’m Jay Pikul and together with Brian Wallace we’ll be coaching your son’s baseball team this season.
Baseball season is just around the corner, and we’re gearing up for a great season.
Part of that is getting the fields in tip-top shape for the boys. On Saturday, March 14th we’ll be at Newtown Elementary's field at 9 am to help get it "cleaned up and ready to play on." Yup, that’s this Saturday, and if you can make it, we’d love to have you. It’s great if we can get a bunch of people it only takes about an hour or so. It boils down to racking the fields and cleaning up leaves. No special skills required, but the more help we have, the quicker we can get it done and get out of there. And if you have a rake or leaf blower bring it along.
As you probably remember from previous years, we usually start the year with a handful of practices and then jump right into the games. We have two practices scheduled this preseason, Sat 3/28 and Thu 4/2. Our first game is Sat 4/4. The rest of the schedule is on www.crnewtown.org.
We will play our weekday games at Chandler's Back Field and our Saturday games at Newtown Elementary's Field. That's important for two reasons. One, you show up to the right place. But more importantly, games at Chandler's Back Field is played on a 46/60 Field so you cannot lead off a base and must wait for the ball to pass home plate on a pitch before stealing a base. When we're on Newtown Elementary's Field, we play on a 50/70 Field so there is leading and stealing on the pitch. We'll cover this at our practices so everyone knows the rules and game play.
Now what you’ve all been waiting for, the roster for the 2020 Orioles!
We would really appreaciate your help on Saturday and through out the season.
We couldn’t be more excited to get out and get the season started. Welcome to the Orioles!
